Facilitate and co-ordinate provision of quality, integrated and sustainable human settlement that offer our communities a better living environment.

Core functions and responsibilities

The core functions and responsibilities of the department are:

  • Rural settlement development;

  • Informal settlement development and upgrading;

  • Provision of rental and social housing;

  • Secure tenure and land acquisition;

  • Provision of title deeds to land owners; and

  • Installation of services that include other amenities.
